London-based sustainability recruitment consultancy Acre has announced the winners of its Acre365 recognition programme, honouring sustainability heroes who have excelled in their first year at work by creating a positive impact.
Nominations fell into three categories based on the impact individuals had made in the following areas: Environmental, Social and Combined.
The Environmental Impact winner was Paul Eggleton, Energy and Environment Director, Mitie for Lloyds Banking. Judges were impressed by his innovative and commercial thinking which helped create significant energy reductions as well as his use of data and transparency to foster trust.
The Social Impact winner was Robbie Bates, Senior Designer, Uscreates, who used innovative digital marketing and technology to enable over 380,000 patients to provide feedback to the NHS to drive service improvement.
The Combined Impact award went to Christina Houlgrave, Circular Economy Analyst and Researcher at Skanska. Houlgrave didn’t have a sustainability background when she joined Skanska, yet her application of economics allowed her to put a monetary value on the economic, social and environmental impacts of the company in order to address challenges and create a positive impact, said the judges.
All three received an Acre365 trophy and £1,000 to invest via the Kiva micro-financing platform (www.kiva.org).
All the applications to Acre365 this year have also contributed to creating a knowledge platform of best practices which can be accessed here. The site will showcase best-in-class examples of impact and innovation taken from the applications, with the aim of inspiring others.
