April's Stories & Beer: Creative Disruption for the MBA

It's time for April's "Stories and Beer" event at the Impact Hub in SF - and online via webcam! Please join us on Thursday, April 23 to hear from Ed Quevedo (Mills College) and Maggie Winslow (University of San Francisco) about the future of the MBA degree and what innovative teachers around the world are doing to make tomorrow’s graduates truly sustainable thinkers.

If we were to re-conceive the MBA degree curriculum in 2015 with a clean sheet of paper, what elements might we consider? We’d likely need to think about incorporating transdisciplinary teaching, systems thinking, ecosystems science and community development into the curriculum among many other things. We would also want to consider new modalities of learning and teaching.

About our guests: Edward Quevedo Ed is faculty in Sustainable Enterprise, leads the the Concentration in Socially Responsible Business in the Lokey Graduate School of Business, and serves as Director and Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Socially Responsible Business at Mills College. Ed also teaches in the Public Policy Program at Mills. Ed was previously an Associate of Reos Partners LLP (global diplomacy and social change agency) where he advised national and regional governments and other civil society organizations on complex problem solving and strategic transformation using systemic change models. Ed is also Senior Advisor to HIP Investor, Inc. Maggie Winslow Dr. Maggie Winslow is faculty and Program Manager for the Master of Science in Environmental Management Program as well as Director of the Environmental Studies Program at the University of San Francisco. Previously, she was a professor of economics and the Academic Dean at Presidio Graduate School. She has taught at UC Berkeley, Antioch University, the Central European University, and for the Conservation Strategy Fund. She has also been a researcher for Redefining Progress, the Pacific Institute, the Environmental Defense Fund, the Conservation Law Foundation, and Lawrence Berkeley Lab.
