Those of you who have been reading 3p for a while know we've been attending the
South by Southwest Interactive Media Conference in Austin for years. Most people in the know consider it to be the most important conference of the year for anything related to web technology and new media. However, many of us in so called "green" media have always wished we could instill a deeper sustainability component into the event. We've often asked,
if techies can save the world, why don't they?
Next week, I'll be making to trek to Austin along with 3p editor extrordinare
Jen Boynton, and
Andrea Newell to attend the first annual
SXSWeco conference. The event (of which 3p will be a media partner) is billed as "three days of diverse, top-level programming for professionals in business, government, non-profits and academia who want to look at environmental and sustainability issues though a fresh lens, develop new collaborations, and contribute to innovative solutions to the most pressing challenges facing the environment, the economy and civil society." In other words, an event we hope will inspire as well as make some of the missed connections we've long talked about.
Will you be at the conference? Got stories dying to be told?
Get in touch with us. We hope to see you there!
